21 Marvelous Mason Jar Meals You Need To Try

I'm always looking for new and interesting ways to use my mason jars, and it's even better when those uses involve FOOD!

My passion for mason jars and other glass containers has been well documented here on OGT at this point. Some might call it an obsession, but I prefer to call myself a “mason jar enthusiast.” 😉 I’ve written about organizing with jars, storing things in jars, crafting with jars, and so on and so on. But I don’t think I’ve written about cooking and serving food in jars—that is, until today! Today I’ll be sharing 21 delicious recipes for mason jar meals!

I love the idea of using mason jars to cook and/or serve food. First, because everything looks so pretty in a glass jar! That’s just a fact. 🙂 And second, because the jar itself works as a built-in method of portion control. (This is particularly helpful when desserts are involved, as you’ll see below!) And finally, there’s just something fun about eating out of a glass jar. And who couldn’t use a bit more fun sprinkled throughout their day?

The first “recipe” I’ll be sharing is more of a method than anything, but I gave it a try the other day and I LOVED it! Make these mason jar cinnamon rolls ASAP, people. You won’t be sorry you did! After the cinnamon rolls, you’ll find links to 20 more mason jar recipes from around the web, broken down into breakfasts, mains, and desserts. Hopefully these recipes help inspire you to embrace the mason jar meal! 🙂

Single-Serving Cinnamon Rolls

You’ll need:

Directions:

Each cinnamon roll will be cooked in its own jar, so gather as many 4-ounce mason jars as you need. Grease the inside of each jar with a little bit of butter or cooking spray.

Open the can of cinnamon rolls and separate them. Place one cinnamon roll into each greased jar. Place the jars on a cookie sheet, then bake at 375°F for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Let the cinnamon rolls cool for a minute or two, then add the icing on top. Yum! The jar helps protect the edges of the roll from drying out, so it stays moist and delicious while still getting cooked through.

Lunch & Dinner In A Jar

Packing up your lunch for work in a glass jar might seem strange, but in many ways it can be better than a plastic container! Glass doesn’t get discolored or absorb odors like plastic can, so it makes for easier cleanup at the end of the day. Glass jars also seal more tightly can many plastic containers, so you don’t have to worry about food spills in your work bag. And as for dinner, jars can be helpful there too! It’s a cooking vessel and a serving dish in one, which cuts back on the amount of dishes you’ll need to clean. Check out these recipes for convenient lunches or dinners in jars!
