Blender BBQ Sauce

When I was growing up my family almost always had a big bottle of homemade BBQ sauce in the fridge. My dad’s recipe was perfectly thick and sweet. My absolute favorite kind of BBQ sauce! Nowadays I’m generally too lazy too busy to make my own sauce so I use store bought. But store bought sauce is packed with sugar, high fructose corn syrup and all kinds of other questionable ingredients. So I was very excited to find an easy, low sugar recipe for blender BBQ sauce from Vanessa at Healthy Living How To.

If you try this recipe don’t expect it to taste just like store bought sauce. It’s definitely a lot less sweet but the liquid smoke gives it a great BBQ flavor without all the sugar.

Put all the ingredients in your blender.

If you have a Blendtec you’ll want to use the “Hot Soup” cycle. It will mix all the ingredients for you and heat up the sauce! If you don’t have a Blendtec just blend the ingredients 30-45 seconds and then heat the sauce up on the stove.

And that’s it!

Brush it on some grilled chicken, make a salad with veggies from your garden and you’ve got the perfect summertime meal. I think it would also be delicious if you combined the chicken and the salad for a BBQ chicken salad. I like to add black beans, corn, red onion, cucumber and ranch dressing. So good!
