DIY 5-Minute Umbrella “Wreath”

I don’t do a lot of DIY home decor projects, but occasionally I will succumb to their allure…especially if they are of the “quick and easy” variety! This 5-minute umbrella door “wreath” fits the bill perfectly! I recently saw a darling version of this project in Redbook Magazine from Gina at Random Thoughts from an Incoherent Mind. This simple, and slightly unorthodox, “wreath” provides big impact with minimal supplies and prep. My kind of project! I decided to give it a try and the results have me smiling each time I look at my front door. 🙂

5-Minute Umbrella Wreath

Supplies

Silk Flowers
Umbrella with a Hooked Handle (My darling green polka dot umbrella from Target was only $12.99!)
Ribbon

Instructions

Prop the umbrella up, so it’s standing straight, with whatever you have on hand. I used a basket filled with a couple of blankets.

Tie a ribbon around the middle of the umbrella. Make sure to tie it nice and tight! The spot where you tie the ribbon determines where the bottom of the “vase” begins.

Arrange the flowers in the top of the umbrella. I used two big bunches of silk flowers, about 24 total stems, to get the fullness I wanted.

And that’s it! Hang the umbrella from a standard wreath door hook and admire your handy work 🙂
