DIY Exfoliating Loofah Soap

I just love when I discover a new health and/or beauty product that I can make at home for less money and that works better than the store-bought stuff! I’ve made a lot of them already, but this loofah soap idea really has me excited! It just makes so much sense!

Everyone has different needs when it comes to keeping their skin smooth and soft. Some like dry brushing, some like using a sugar scrub, some prefer felted soap bars. But this DIY loofah soap could have them all beat! Chunks of all-natural, exfoliating loofah are encased in a moisturizing shea butter soap base to create a perfect suds and scrub in one bar! Plus, these were so easy to make that you’ll want to share with everyone you know!

DIY Exfoliating Loofah Soap

Ingredients

Begin by slicing your loofah into six equal slices with a bread knife, and squishing a slice of loofah into each soap mold.

I love how these flowers turned out, but any round-ish shape will work just fine! If you only have a square or rectangle mold, you’ll just have to get a little creative with cutting up the loofah.

Now chop up your soap base. The smaller you chop it up, the faster it will melt – but larger chunks work just fine, too. 🙂 Place your soap bits in a glass container and microwave for 15 seconds at a time, stirring each time.

Once the soap is completely liquid, add the essential oil and a few drops of soap dye, if you want to. I decided to keep mine white.

Simply pour the melted soap mixture into the mold, making sure to pour on all sides of the loofah – covering it completely.

After an hour or two, the soap will be set up and ready-to-use!

I have absolutely loved using this soap! The shea butter soap is super moisturizing; the lavender smells amazing and is great for your skin; and the loofah leaves your skin silky smooth!

This recipe will make 6 large bars of soap, with a little soap leftover. Store them for yourself or package them in a cellophane bag for gifting. 🙂 Enjoy!

What’s your favorite method for exfoliating?
