Sometimes I feel like such a DIY newbie! When I saw this project using Mod Podge as a transfer medium for printables…I could hardly believe it! So amazingly clever! I honestly had never heard of this technique before. But looking around the internet I found a couple of more tutorials on the same technique and was immediately smitten!
It combines some of my favorite things! Cute graphics and flower pots! 🙂 Of course you can use this on more than just flower pots, but the flower pots are just so darn cute!
These white-washed French Flower Pots are from Heavens-Walk. Tres chic!
But as much as I like those…I am equally enamored of this one at Our Adventures In Home Improvement. There’s something about terra cotta that calls out to my gardening spirit. (Not literally). I actually had a hard time choosing which one to put at the top of this post! lol. Such difficult decisions I am called on to make. 😉
I went with the white-washed pots just because the lighting was a little better….but when I actually do this project (which I definitely will!) I think I will go with the plain terra cotta look.
Both websites offer very helpful tutorials on the process, so be sure and check them out.
In a nutshell the whole process is basically 4 steps.
- Print out your graphic on plain white printer paper using the mirror image setting on your printer.
- Position graphic face down on flower pot and modge podge over the whole thing. Making sure to smooth out wrinkles and bubbles.
- WALK AWAY. Must let dry at least 12 hours. (This is probably the hardest step involved!)
- When dry, dampen graphic with a spray bottle or sponge and CAREFULLY peel away!
Now you’re probably wondering where they GOT the cute graphics they transferred to the pots. They were all downloaded for FREE at The Graphics Fairy. I have featured her website before in a previous post. I just love her stuff. She has an AMAZING inventory of vintage graphics to choose from!
After poking around the website for just a few minutes I found this gorgeous printable!
And this one……
And this one…..
Well….you get the idea. 🙂 Believe me….you will have a hard time pulling yourself away from this website once you get started! So much to Oooh and Ahhh over.
Oh….and if you want to try your hand at making your own Homemade Mod Podge…there are countless tutorials out there for this as well. Here’s one I found awhile back at Do It Yourself Divas and bookmarked to use when I found the right project.
