Favorite Holiday Recipes from My Readers!

A while back, I hosted a contest in search of the best Crockpot recipes! I asked you, my readers, and got 5 delicious recipes – the crockpot cheesecake is amazing! You can find all the recipes here.  With all the holiday parties and events planned over the next couple of weeks, I decided to ask for your favorite holiday recipes! I asked over my facebook page, and there were so many tasty treats! It was hard to choose but I picked five that I’m sharing with you today.

Monster Bars

from Nikki Morris

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, melted
  • 1 package (14.4 oz) of graham crackers, crushed
  • 1 bag (11.5 oz) chocolate chips
  • 1 bag (11.5 oz) butterscotch or peanut butter chips (or both!)
  • 1/2 a bag (7 oz) of coconut flakes
  • 1 bag (16 oz) walnuts
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

Pour the melted butter into a baking dish and add the crushed graham crackers. Then layer the chips, coconut, and walnuts.

Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top, and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Let cool and cut into bars.

I loved these! They were absolutely delicious and SO easy to make! You can also make your own gluten-free graham crackers to make this tasty treat gluten-free. 🙂 I didn’t have a chance to make the rest of these recipes before writing this post but I’m hoping to soon!

Lemon Bread

from Shelley Daun Rose

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Rind of 1 lemon

Mix all the ingredients in order, and pour the batter into a greased and floured baking dish. Bake for 1 hour at 300 degrees. Let cool while you prepare the glaze:

  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup of sugar

Whisk the two ingredients together, and pour over the cake. Yum! I love all lemon desserts, and this one sounds amazing! 🙂

Apple Fritter Cake

from Amber Kreis

Filling:

  • 4 Braeburn apples, diced
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons water

Combine the above ingredients in a saucepan and cook on low for 5-7 minutes, or until apples soften and the sauce is thick.

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Combine these two ingredients and set aside.

Cake:

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup vanilla greek yogurt

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then add applesauce and vanilla. Mix in the eggs, one at a time. Sift dry ingredients together, and add the mixture in thirds, alternating with the yogurt. Be sure to mix well after each addition!

Spread 1/2 the batter into a 9×13 baking dish. Sprinkle most of the brown sugar and cinnamon, and top with apple filling. Spread the remaining batter over the top, and the sprinkle the rest of the brown sugar mixture. Bake for 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees and top immediately with the glaze.

Glaze:

  • 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 Tablespoons Milk

Combine ingredients until smooth. This recipe requires quite a bit of work, but it would be so worth it! I love anything with an apple filling. 🙂

Cream Cheese Filled Sweet Bread

from Kelly-Jo Anne Cole

This recipe is originally from Positively Splendid so click on over for the directions. My mouth is watering just looking at the picture!

Peanut Butter Blossoms

from Lori Tintes Hartmann

  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • Hershey’s Kisses

Mix the ingredients and roll into 1 inch balls. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven, and push a chocolate kiss in the center of each ball. Let cool.

Could these be any easier to make? I especially love that they are naturally gluten-free!

Thanks to everyone who submitted a recipe! Be sure to share one in the comments if you didn’t get a chance to on Facebook.

Happy Holidays!
