This Is The Most Useful Thing You Can Add To Your Freezer

This awesome new kitchen gadget will help you eliminate food waste, save more cash, AND keep your freezer more organized than ever before!

If you’re a regular reader of the blog, then you already know I’m a big proponent of freezing food! I’ve shared tons of tips for freezing all sorts of foods in past blog posts, and today I’ll be telling you all about a great new product I’ve been using recently that anyone who freezes food regularly will want to get their hands on!

But before we get to the that, I wanted to quickly go over some of the reasons why freezing food is so useful in the first place!

What’s So Great About Freezing Food?

Freezing perishables is an easy way to keep your food fresh longer, which is good for both the environmental and your food budget. It’s also a great way to preserve your favorite seasonal foods, because you can buy them in bulk when they’re at their peak flavor and ripeness and keep them fresh for months to come!

Freezing food in advance is a great way to plan ahead for busy weeknights, or to help limit those last-minute trips to the grocery store. If you make your favorite recipes in bigger batches, you can freeze the extra servings to give yourself a quick and easy meal option down the road. Just pop some frozen leftovers in the fridge in the morning, and by dinner time you should have a thawed meal ready to be reheated in the oven or on your stovetop.

And thanks to my new favorite freezer tool, freezing your favorite foods just got easier!

My New Favorite Freezer Accessory: PrepWorks Freezer Pods

A lot of people use ice cube trays to freeze liquid foods, from homemade soups to fruit purees, because you can grab a few cubes at a time as needed instead of having to thaw out a big frozen block. But I recently discovered a new line of products that takes the concept of freezing liquids in ice cube trays and makes it even better!

They’re called PrepWorks Freezer Pods, and while they’re similar in size and shape to standard ice cube trays, the cavities in each tray have a specific capacity. The trays come in 2-tablespoon, 1/2-cup, 1-cup, and 2-cup varieties.

One of my favorite features of these Freezer Pods is when you freeze something in them, each frozen cube will come out with the amount marked clearly on it. This feature has virtually eliminated the guessing game I would go through every time I tried to figure out how much frozen buttermilk or lemon juice I had on hand!

And with the larger capacity Freezer Pods, you can easily portion out soups and sauces in just-right amounts. And when the time comes to eat or cook, you can defrost exactly as much as you need.

How Freezer Pods Can Help Keep Your Freezer Organized

Unlike most standard ice cube trays, each Freezer Pod tray comes with a silicone lid that allows for expansion when freezing. The expanding lid is a very useful addition to these trays, because it prevents messes and also ensures your food doesn’t take on any weird “freezer tastes.”

Freezer Pods also make it easy to stay organized by including a designated area to label each tray, so you can easily identify what you’re freezing. And once the food is frozen, you can either keep it stored in the tray, or you can do what I do and transfer them to another container.

I like to store mine in vacuum-sealed FoodSaver bags, both to free up the trays so I can use them again and to help prevent freezer burn. (If you don’t have a vacuum sealer, you can always zip the cubes into ziplock freezer bags instead.)

Gone are the days of struggling to arrange large containers and bulky bags into your freezer like it’s a game of Tetris! You can store the cubes from your Freezer Pods in rigid vacuum-sealed bags that are easy to stack, or malleable ziplocks you can fit into any available nook or cranny.

After stumbling upon PrepWorks Freezer Pods online, I couldn’t resist ordering one in every size! I’ve found great uses for all of them, and would definitely recommend them to anyone.

If you find yourself constantly throwing out expired foods or regularly attempting to reorganize your freezer in vain, give these trays a try and let me know what you think!
