Last month my family and I took a much overdue vacation. For a week we spent our days poolside and beachside reading a lot of books! We are a fairly passionate family of readers so the opportunity to do so for almost a week straight (on a sunny, warm beach in Mexico no less!) was a real treat! While most of us toted books with us, we also got to take turns using the newest edition of the Kindle Paperwhite and it definitely was the device most “in demand.” The fact that it is super light weight, has no screen glare, and has an uber long-lasting battery make it literally the perfect vacation (or anytime) “reading machine!”

As you can tell from the first photo, my most avid reader, Britta, was immediately smitten with it! I’m beginning to wonder if I will ever get my hands on it again. While we have had Kindle’s in the past, this newest generation had us all “oohing and aahing” over all the NEW features!

Just to name a few…….Kindle Page Flip, Goodreads Integration, Kindle FreeTime, Vocabulary Builder, Smart Lookup, In-line Footnotes, and (one of Britta’s favorites) the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
With millions of books, newspapers and magazines, including the latest best sellers….it really is hard to think of ONE GIFT that would appeal to so many different people!
You can find out LOTS more about our family’s favorite “reading machine” at: www.amazon.com/kindlepaperwhite.

Since this is a great time of year for gift-giving of books (or readers) I thought I would share our families’ reading list from our vacation last month. Hopefully this will inspire you to give the gift of reading to someone else!

Jill’s Reading List:
“Jimmy’s Girl” by Stephanie Gertler
“Beautiful Ruins” by Jess Walter

Dave’s Reading List:
“Killing Lincoln” by Bill O’Reilly

Erik’s Reading List:
“Lone Survivor” by Marcus Luttrell
Kaitlyn’s Reading List:
“I’ve Got Your Number” by Sophie Kinsella
“Clockwork Angel (Infernal Devices, Book 1)” by Cassandra Clare
“The World of Divergent: The Path to Allegiant” by Veronica Roth

Britta’s Reading List:
“On the Map” by Simon Garfield
“This is How You Lose Her” by Junot Diaz
“All You Could Ask For” by Mike Greenberg

Neil’s Reading List:
“World War Z” by Max Brooks

Kell’s Reading List:
“Ender’s Game” by Orson Scott Card
Sten’s Reading List:
“The Hobbit” by J. R. R. Tolkien

I honestly can’t imagine taking a vacation (or any other sort of activity) without a book being involved. Kindle Paperwhite just makes it that much easier to keep a “good read” on hand whenever the urge hits.
