How To Get Your Feet Ready For Summer Sandal Season!

Somebody finally turned on the HEAT where we live! It seems like I was just complaining about how rainy and cold it was and then in the blink of an eye I was scrambling to find my shorts and sandals! Only problem….my sadly neglected, winter-weary feet! They were NOT “sandal-ready”…not even close! 🙂

If you find yourself in the same boat, don’t despair! Today I’m sharing my favorite ways to get your feet smooth, soft, and sandal-ready!

Start with this listerine vinegar soak. It worked wonders on my rough, dry feet!

After the foot soak – KEEP your heels in sandal shape with this DIY heel repair stick! Rub it on your heels every night before bed to help stave off the misery of dry heels this summer.

To keep the heel repair formula from getting all over your sheets, try sleeping in summer socks! Much cooler than regular socks and so simple to make! Such a great idea from my friend Kami at NoBiggie.

I also love to rub Dreamy Sleep Salve all over my feet before bed. It does double duty – helps you fall asleep faster and moisturizes dry feet. Also try Dream STICKS!

If your cuticles are in rough shape be sure to try this DIY cuticle butter with healing essential oils. Use as needed for cracks and splits, or use daily as a preventative measure.

Don’t forget to EXFOLIATE your feet with this Coconut Lime Foot Scrub from my friend Natalia at Ma Nouvelle Mode. This simple homemade foot scrub helps heal and rejuvenate your feet and also makes a super cute gift!

If you suffer from toenail fungus, try this easy fix! Moisten a q-tip with Tea Tree Essential Oil and apply to infected nails. Get underneath to the best of your ability. Repeat morning and night until symptoms dissipate.

Give yourself a DIY pedicure! Start by soaking your toes in 4 tablespoons castor oil. Castor oil can be applied on our hair and skin but never undiluted. Mix with 3 drops Lavender, Frankincense, and Cypress Essential Oils. It will help strengthen your nails and soften your cuticles.

Here is a quick tip for choosing a polish color for your tootsies: bright colors, especially neon, will make you look more tan! I usually go for bright coral or pink all summer long.

After wearing sandals all day feet can get extra dirty with ground-in grime. Be sure to mix up this Dirty Feet Scrub.

Dirty Feet Scrub

from Camp Wander

1 Cup Sugar
Dish Soap
Lemon Essential Oil

Fill your container of choice 2/3 full with sugar, add dish soap to the consistency you like then stir in 4 or 5 drops of Lemon essential oil. Scrub, soften and exfoliate feet as needed!

It’s inexpensive, smells great, and very effective! Keep an unbreakable container in the shower at the ready so you can scrub your feet anytime they need it.

How do you make sure your feet are ready for sandal-wearing season?
