Make Your Own Luck-y Charms Munch For St. Patrick’s Day

This sweet and salty snack is hard to put down!

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up on Friday, so I thought it would be fun to do a little something to mark the occasion! Even though my kids are pretty “grown-up” at this point (my youngest turns 18 next month!) I still make it a point to do a little something festive on holidays. When I have an excuse to get a little festive, I’m going to take it, darn it! Why let the kids have all the fun? 😉

Last St. Patrick’s Day we showed you how to make a colorful breakfast, so today we’re focusing on one of my favorite meals of the day – snack time! This recipe combines salty pretzel sticks with irresistible cereal marshmallows for to make one addictively sweet and salty snack.

This “Lucky Charms Munch” was a big hit with both my family and the blog team. Honestly, it’s kind of hard to stop eating it! Make up a batch sometime this week, and watch it magically disappear!

* You can also buy a bag of breakfast cereal marshmallows online.
** I couldn’t find colored candy melts in the stores near me, so I improvised. Scroll past the recipe for instructions on making your own!

Add the pretzels, M&M’s, and marshmallows to a large bowl and mix them together with your hands.

Pour the white chocolate chips into a microwaveable bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds at a time until completely melted, stirring in between.

Pour the melted white chocolate over the pretzels, M&M’s, and marshmallows, and toss the mixture until it is evenly coated and well distributed.

Spread the mixture out onto a sheet of wax paper.

Following the same method described for melting the white chocolate, melt the pink, yellow, and green candy melts in small bowls. Pour them over the top of the mixture, along with the sprinkles.

Let the mixture sit out until the chocolate sets, then break it up into smaller pieces and enjoy!

How To Make Your Own Candy Melts

Melt white chocolate chips or melting wafers in your microwave, or over a double boiler. Split the melted white chocolate into 3 small bowls and add a drop or two of gel food color at a time, until you achieve the desired shades of pink, yellow, and green. At this point, the colored chocolates are ready to be used in the recipe, or you can keep them for later.

To store for later use, spread the colored chocolate mixtures onto parchment paper in dollops. When the pieces have solidified, store them in an airtight container.
