This Is The Perfect Time To Try These 7 Useful & Delicious Recipes

Looking for new and interesting recipes to try while you stay safe at home? I'm sharing some of my favorite cooking projects and recipes that will help keep you busy!

I’ve been spending a lot of time in the kitchen lately, as I’m sure many of you have too! When you’re spending a lot of time at home, cooking and baking make great hobbies, because they’re both engaging activities and a means of feeding yourself and your family.

And for those of you who aren’t all that confident in the kitchen, now is a great time to try some new things! The more you cook or bake, the more confidence you’ll gain—even if your experiments don’t always turn out exactly as planned. (You can always order a pizza if your Plan A doesn’t turn out—that’s what I do anyway!) 😉

So whether you’re cooking or baking up a storm or are looking to build confidence in the kitchen, today’s post is for you. Because today I’ll be sharing 7 of my favorite recipes that will help keep you busy, and more importantly, well fed!

7 Delicious Recipes That Will Keep You Busy And Well Fed

1. Easy Overnight Bread

If you have used social media at any point over the past month, you’ve probably seen at least one post about homemade bread! It’s not hard to see why bread making has suddenly become so popular—many people are at home with plenty of time on their hands, and they need to eat, so why not spend a few hours in the kitchen making bread from scratch?

If you’ve been itching to give it a try for yourself (or you’re just looking for a new recipe to tackle) check out my easy overnight bread! Because of the long resting period, you don’t even have to knead it! Give it a try and see what the bread making buzz is all about.

2. Two-Ingredient Dough

While my two-ingredient dough isn’t exactly a complicated affair, I had to include it in this list because of how many different things you can make with it! You can use this one dough to make pizza, breadsticks, bagels, cinnamon rolls, and much more!

Mix up a batch of this super simple dough, then put on your thinking cap and dream up your own ways to use it! I’d love to hear from you about how you put this versatile dough to work in your kitchen. 🙂

3. Hot Chocolate Mix

In terms of the weather here in Utah, it’s been a very typical April so far. It’s 62°F and rainy one day, then 42°F and sunny the next, with flurries of snow in between. Cold weather doesn’t really end until well into May, so until then, at least I have my favorite semi-homemade hot chocolate mix to keep me warm!

This is a great mix to keep on hand in your pantry, because you never know when a hot chocolate craving will strike. And it helps keep your spirits up through these difficult times, then it’s a good thing in my book. 🙂

4. Instant Pot Beans

Dry beans don’t just last forever in your pantry, they’re also extremely economical! And if you also happen to have an Instant Pot in your kitchen, they’re quick and easy to cook.

Cooking dry beans in the Instant Pot takes a fraction of the time compared to other methods. So cook up a big batch of beans in your Instant Pot, then freeze any leftovers to use in soups, chili, and other recipes!

5. Vegetable Stock Powder

Vegetable stock powder is another useful staple to keep on hand. It keeps for a lot longer than actual vegetable stock, and takes up less space on your shelf too.

And it’s surprisingly easy to make your own homemade vegetable stock powder using veggie scraps you might otherwise throw away! If you have time to spare, consider making veggie stock powder that will save you plenty of storage space and money.

6. Frozen Yogurt Pops

One of the many challenging things about spending so much time at home is resisting the urge to snack all day, every day! So when snack attacks strike, I try to have some easy, relatively low calorie snacks on hand that I can eat.

One of those snacks I’ve been enjoying is homemade frozen yogurt pops. All you have to do is freeze some yogurt, and you’ve got a tasty treat that can help satisfy your sweet tooth without the guilt!

7. Ice Cream (Without An Ice Cream Maker)

But when frozen yogurt just won’t cut it, there’s always ice cream. I love homemade ice cream, but I don’t always want to haul out my big ice cream maker to make it.

If you’re in the same boat, or if you don’t own an ice cream maker at all, never fear! It’s totally possible to make ice cream without an ice cream maker, and best of all, it’s a relatively foolproof process! Give homemade ice cream a try and let me know what you think!
