This Is The Best Way To Remove Unwanted Hair At Home

Removing unwanted hair has never been this easy, or this inexpensive!

While it doesn’t pose any health risks, unwanted hair can be an embarrassing condition for many people. Hormonal imbalances, irregular menstrual cycles, certain medications, and post-pregnancy hormonal changes, can all cause unwanted hair issues for women. Aging also seems to bring about more unwanted hair too. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed my face has developed a lot more “peach fuzz,” and it’s really annoying!

But before shelling out big money for treatments like laser hair removal, permanent waxing, electrolysis, etc., there are plenty of natural home remedies for hair removal that you may want to try first! These at-home treatments can save you a LOT of money, while removing unwanted hair naturally and without any side effects. Today I’ll be sharing one method in particular that I’ve had a lot of success with—sugar wax! And to make it, you’ll only need a few simple ingredients that may already have in your kitchen!

What Is Sugar Wax?

“Sugar waxing” or “sugaring” is a hair removal treatment that has been practiced for centuries throughout Northern Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.

Rather than using wax that adheres to your skin and pulls on it when you are removing the hair, sugar binds to the hair and pulls it out at the root. This makes it especially great for individuals with sensitive skin and “peach fuzz” (like me!) because it’s less likely to cause irritation.

You can use it anywhere you would like to remove hair, but beforehand you want to grow the hair out to about 1/4″ in length to ensure that the sugar wax has enough hair to grab onto.

How To Make Sugar Wax

You’ll need:

Combine the sugar, water and lemon juice in a small saucepan.

Heat on low until the mixture reaches the “firm ball” stage on your candy thermometer (about 245°F). Make sure not to cook it too long, and don’t let it get any hotter than 250°F.

Remove from heat and let the wax cool to almost to room temperature. When it’s still a little warm, but cool enough to handle, it’s ready!

How to Use Sugar Wax to Remove Unwanted Hair

Use a craft stick to spread the sugar wax over the area where you want to remove hair, working in the same direction that the hair is growing. Then firmly press a clean strip of fabric onto the sugar wax.

Let it sit for a few seconds so the wax can firm up. Then hold your skin taut, and quickly pull the strip of fabric in the opposite direction of the hair growth. (If there is any sugar wax residue left on your skin, you can easily clean it up with a bit of warm water.)

You can store any extra sugar wax in a jar and microwave it for about 30 seconds to reheat.

Take a look at those results! Not bad for an at-home treatment using stuff you already have in the kitchen. 🙂

Bonus: Remove Hair Naturally with Baking Soda and Turmeric

This popular remedy caught us by surprise, since it sounds so darn simple (and inexpensive.) But that’s just the kind of tip I’m always looking for!

Simply mix 2 parts baking soda with 1 part turmeric, add enough water to form a thin paste, and apply the mixture to your hair removal area. Allow the mixture to dry, and then remove the baking soda and turmeric mixture by rubbing gently using your hand or a small, dry washcloth. Once you’ve rubbed the dried mixture away (and with it, your unwanted hair) rinse away the oompa loompa orange color from your skin and apply your favorite moisturizer.

What is your favorite hair removal method?
